By living in Cancun I have the opportunity to go diving whenever I want--weather permitting. When the Whale Sharks are here (late May through mid-September) I get to go snorkeling with them two or three times each year. I have been diving at Cozumel, Playa del Carmen and in the Puerto Aventuras areas south of Cancun and quite honestly, the reefs and marine life don't compare to the which we find in Cancun. The following are some of my favorite photos from the waters of Cancun.
The largest fish in the ocean lives on the smallest critters in the ocean (phytoplankton).
At times Whale Sharks rest while feeding and they position themselves in an upright position that we call “bottling”. They are near the surface and continue to suck in plankton without swimming around.
The Rock Beauty is a type of Angelfish
Because the fish is slightly turned you cannot see the spot on the dorsal fin of the fish.
